What you may be asking now is why polyurethane? There are a variety of reasons as to the popularity of polyurethane actually: they are a perfect fit with the natural properties of wood, offer outstanding resistance with unique toughness and flexibility, and have outstanding mechanical properties which give them an ideal balance between hardness and flexibility, even at low temperatures. Another aspect which makes polyurethane the ‘coating of choice’, especially with regards to flooring, is that it has a good scratch resistance.
